I don’t know much about these other then it was one of the coolest, most definitive late 70s special edition vehicles made. Seeing one that was neither hotrodded nor made into a company mascot truck was very cool.

Back then trucks didn’t have to have the same level of emission controls as cars so these represented some of the highest performance available.

In the last years of our now closed local drag strip, there was a guy that had a stock one—towing one set up for racing.

Too bad it’s a 79' not a 78'. The 78's made more power & had round headlights.

That one focuses more on the Dakota Express which was a slightly uglier and subpar performance tribute.
Allpar has all the nitty gritty things about the Lil Red Express. It is a neat truck...

Back in the mid 90s I dated a girl whose Dad won a Little Red in a radio contest. (WGN FTW!)
It was in sad shape as he used it as a DD in Chicagoland through most of the 80s. As far as I know its still sitting in a garage in Berwyn unrestored.
Jeez.. I need to get back to the old stomping grounds.

There’s one of those here, it’s pretty sweet! Definitely needs a Hot Wheels license plate holder
